One side plays the free people and the other side plays the shadow. If playing with more than two players then players will have specific decks made up of specific factions such as dwarves and elves. Firstly, the overall game. As a 2P+ game, it really is good imo. You play either the Shadow Player or Free People (SP or FP). FP is trying to either destroy the ring by progressing the fellowship to mount doom, or by gaining 4 VP by capturing SP settlements. SP is trying to win by capturing 10VP of FP settlements or corrupt the ringbearer.
