the mk2 mondeo td has a common failure of a plastic pulley on the timing belt. its often been the case that this pulley would disintergrate before a timing belt would snap. this situation with the mk3 is sort of like the situation with the mk2 although the mk3 obviously has a chain instead and the aux pulley/crankshaft pulley fails instead. Good luck and some smoke under hard acceleration is normal anyway even for the most efficient running tdci's - but getting the power back is the main thing 2002 Ford Mondeo Mk3 Ghia X 130 TDCI ( Ink Blue ) ** Without NOS =166.4bhp at 4141rpm and 238.3lbf/ft at 3018rpm /// With NOS =181.1bhp at 3607rpm and 294.6lbf/ft at 2929rpm **

The F-super should be fine. It works on my late 03 and late 06 Mondeo Tdci. There is a more expensive option discussed extensively in this forum, but the f-super has done everything I needed including recoding the injectors. Knowing the FRP is a vital diagnostic for an engine that does not run and the f-super will give you that.

Any air in the system should come out it'll be easily visible as bubbles in
