Have been thinking of a 790R over the 1290, which has its own heat issues. Took the dealership 790R out for two different long rides on hot days (in the high 90's) in stop and go traffic, wearing jeans with low top riding boots. All KTM's come from the factory with Mineral Oil in them until their first service. In regards to running in its pretty much each to their own I find. Mine seen 10,000rpm a few times before the 1000km and has always lived around the 7000 area. The bike was announced late last year and is now available for 6000€. It has a very similar engine to the 390 Duke (which is where my concerns come from), has switchable Abs, traction control, corner abs and an optional quick shifter. On paper that thing looks absolutely great for the price. 43 bhp is enough for the street and plenty for dirt. The KTM shop that does my servicing uses motorex or motul, just not V300 in twins. Ive used motul in my Multistrada since new (82,000kms now) never needed any valve adjustment 5100 15w50 i use 8100 in my 1290GT 10w60 40,000kms, so far I've only put motorex in the 790 at 4000km intervals, and thats with track days thrown in, i think its an ok oil. zVqaR. 83563957770646433162
